Description

GIS Analysts will be responsible for providing GIS services and related project support involving the integration, maintenance and management of GIS data and technology to support intensive vegetation management for electrical utilities. Candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to perform quality control to a very high level of competence, good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work and learn effectively within a dynamic environment. Experience with ESRI software is required.

Compensation will be based on skills and experience the candidate brings to the job.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Associates degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, Forestry/Natural Resources or related discipline
  • Understanding and experience applying integrated GIS using the ESRI suite of products
  • Strong commitment to safety, stewardship, customer satisfaction and teamwork
  • Experience with aerial photo interpretation, map reading, map production, GPS
  • Strong computer skills in applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Understanding of projections and data types
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple assignments simultaneously and shift priorities as necessary
  • Willingness to work the hours required to complete the work

Preferred Skills:

  • Master Degree and /or GIS Certification (GISC, ASPRS certifications)
  • Three years direct GIS experience
  • Programming / scripting experience (VB script, Python, SQL) and model builder.
  • Ability to develop QA/QC procedures
  • Understanding of database management systems
  • Utilize GIS software to manipulate data in a raster and vector based geospatial environment
  • Understanding LiDAR data and the challenge of managing large datasets
  • Experience migrating and converting various data types into appropriate formats for analysis
  • Advanced geospatial analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with OGC standards and/or FGDC
  • Enterprise / web delivery of geospatial information
