Compliance, Efficiency & Reliability By applying PLS-CADD and other powerful software to the LIDAR-generated data, URMC helps transmission utilities quickly and accurately identify immediate vegetation threats as well as perform predictive modeling of vegetation growth patterns for long-term risk management. Mitigation orders are wirelessly dispatched through URMC's integrated Work Order Management System (WOMS) to field crews using our proprietary handheld GIS/imaging technology, which helps them quickly locate and eliminate the assessed threat. Once the work is completed, a visual confirmation of the mitigation work is attached to the work order and uploaded back to the WOMS server. The assessor who first initiated the work order is then able to confirm that the mitigation has been completed and can close out the work order and with it complete the audit trail. Drill-down, roll-up reports can easily be generated for utility managers, regulators and other interested parties. Equally important, because we map in three dimensions, we can tell a transmission utility not simply how close a tree is to its lines (e.g. the x and y points of the grid), but based on the line and tree height measurements (z point) we can determine clearance proximity should the tree fall toward the lines. This knowledge coupled with our models for maximum sag and sway under peak operating and variable climate conditions results in the utility proactively preventing potential threats before they emerge.
